Born from a gardening failure that turned into South Carolina’s most enchanting botanical wonderland, Swan Lake Iris Gardens proves that sometimes the best discoveries happen completely by accident.
This 150-acre paradise holds the remarkable distinction of being the only public park in the United States featuring all eight swan species, along with some of the most spectacular Japanese iris displays you’ll find anywhere in the country.
Swan Species & Wildlife Encounters
All Eight Swan Species: You’ll witness an incredible collection including Royal White Mutes, Black Necks, Coscorobas, Whoopers, Black Australians, Whistlers, Bewicks, and Trumpeters – a living showcase that attracts bird enthusiasts from around the globe. Eight informational stations throughout the park provide fascinating details about each species’ unique characteristics and behaviors.
Interactive Wildlife Experience: Multiple feeding stations let you get up close with swans and ducks, creating unforgettable photo opportunities. Wild birds including Canada geese, wood ducks, anhingas, herons, and egrets call the gardens home, making every visit a new wildlife adventure.
