Middle Falls – Easy Access: The middle waterfall is just 0.1 mile upstream from the lower section, linked by a rippling stream and accessed via wooden steps to the left of the lower falls. This 8-10 foot waterfall is another great place to splash and play.

Upper Falls – The Grand Finale: The upper cascades drop 100 feet down a cliff, though it’s more of a waterslide than a traditional waterfall. This waterfall is about half a mile from the parking area and offers spectacular views, especially during high water periods.

Multiple Cascades: This is one of those trails where you can see as many as 4 different waterfalls along the loop, making it perfect for waterfall enthusiasts looking to maximize their experience.

Trail Experience

Family-Friendly Hiking: It’s a family-friendly, easy hike on well-maintained trails. The trail was fairly easy-moderate and just long enough to work up a little sweat without making you feel like you’re on an unending trail.

Historical Elements: The remains of a 1930s Civilian Conservation Corps shelter provides a glimpse of Depression-era history, when the National Park Service operated a series of small roadside parks for families during the rise of motoring vacations. A stone chimney and fireplace remain intact today.

I’ve lived in Asheville for the past 12 years, but North Carolina has always felt like home. And I've always loved traveling! I enjoy taking the long way just to see what’s out there. When I’m not writing, I’m out with my old Nikon, digging through record bins, or planning my next road trip.
