The Country Sections: Each international aisle feels like stepping into a different nation. Literally rows upon rows of foods from China, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, and dozens of other Asian countries with thousands of Asian products await your exploration. You’ll find authentic ingredients that most American stores simply don’t carry, from Korean gochujang to Middle Eastern za’atar.
The Cheese Paradise: With 1,600 cheeses from around the globe, this isn’t just a cheese section—it’s a cheese universe. You can sample varieties you’ve never heard of, discover perfect pairings for wine night, and stock up on everything from creamy French bries to aged Italian parmigiano-reggiano.
Exotic Meat Adventures: Featuring a selection of exotic and hard to find products (rattlesnake, anyone?), as well as traditional American favorites, the meat department pushes culinary boundaries. While you can find gator bites at many of the best seafood shacks in the country, you can’t find alligator meat at most American grocery states. Here, you’ll discover everything from kangaroo steaks to ground elk, ostrich eggs to buffalo jerky.
Hot Sauce Heaven: With more than 1,500 hot sauces, and hundreds of BBQ sauces, spices and rubs, wing sauces, salsas, and mustards, the fiery foods section follows a bright red fire truck display through the store. Whether you’re seeking mild flavor enhancers or sweat-inducing challenges, you’ll find heat levels from every corner of the world.
Wine & Beer Wonderland: 12,000 wines, 1,200 beers create one of the most impressive alcohol selections you’ll ever encounter. There are aisles and aisles of wines from Argentina to South Africa, clearly marked by country. You can even sample selections at the tasting bar and sip while you shop.

Animatronic Magic: Some of the most notable include the safari animals located by the entrance and exit, the singing Elvis lion located in the candy section, Corn & Butter, and the smiling Campbell’s Soup can swinging above patrons. These whimsical displays transform mundane shopping into an interactive experience.
The Historic Monorail: One of the most fascinating features is the Lion Country Safari Monorail, also named Wild Animal Safari and Wild Animal Habitat, opened during the park’s third year of operation at Kings Island. In 1998, Jungle Jim purchased all seven of the train cars for $1 plus the cost for relocating the vehicles. While the monorail now serves as unique decor, it represents a piece of local amusement park history.
Themed Decor Galore: A large Jungle-themed station featuring a giant snake façade was constructed behind the store, and you’ll encounter everything from a 40-foot cabin cruiser fronting the seafood section, a full-sized ricksha perched above the Chinese-food section, an Amish buggy next to the meat department.
Sampling & Special Features
Free Tastings: Usually it’s unwise to grocery shop when you’re hungry, but at Jungle Jim’s it pays because of all the free samples. Weekend visits offer the most sampling opportunities, letting you try everything from imported cheeses to exotic hot sauces.
The Tasting Bar: Jungle Jim’s also has a tasting room where visitors can sample a pre-selected list of wines and beers for a minimal charge. I ordered a couple of samples and then a glass of wine, that I could drink as I continued shopping.

Live Seafood Tanks: The seafood department features massive tanks filled with live fish, lobsters, and other sea creatures, ensuring maximum freshness for your culinary adventures.
Other Considerations
Pricing Reality: My only complaint is that prices are very expensive. Cheapest apples were $2/lb and many international items are 3 to 4 times more expensive than stores in other states. However, There is a large discounted produce section to find deals. The premium pricing reflects the specialty nature of many items and the unique shopping experience.
Plan Your Visit: At its core, it’s similar to other international markets, but the quirky decor–like the monorail, animal statues, and animated displays albeit gimicky at times–makes it unique. The store is huge. Most visitors recommend allowing at least 2-3 hours for a thorough exploration.
Accessibility: The store offers electric mobility carts for those who need assistance navigating the expansive floor space, ensuring everyone can enjoy this food wonderland.
