Forget everything you know about finding a great cocktail in Charlotte – the city’s top-rated speakeasy hides behind a garden center in an old storage unit, and you’ll need a membership card just to get through the door.
Dot Dot Dot was voted as the #1 cocktail bar in Charlotte in a recent community survey, just barely edging out longtime favorite Soul Gastrolounge in Plaza Midwood.
This members-only cocktail lounge opened in July 2017 under the vision of master mixologist Stefan Huebner (formerly of Heist Brewery) and Conrad Hunter (owner of Foxcroft Wine Co.).
The entrance is tucked away in the backlot of Park Road Shopping Center, and you’ll find it by walking around to the back of Blackhawk Hardware Garden Center.
Once inside, you’ll discover why this intimate space has attracted nearly 10,000 members and why Charlotte bartenders consistently name it as their go-to spot when they’re not working.

Seasonal Creativity: The playfully named “Lily Wants a Pony” ($12) combines Tito’s vodka, riesling, rosemary, and lime, served over ice. Stefan uses unique spirits, seasonal flavors, and personal selections to craft an exciting and approachable drink menu, with over 700 different spirits behind the bar.
Classic Cocktails Done Right: Classic cocktails such as the Gibson, the sidecar and the Manhattan are pleasantly retro, while creative house specialties with names including “Bi-Plane,” “Hit the Wall,” and “Thai Basil Smash” cleanly break with tradition. You’ll find perfectly balanced drinks whether you prefer light and refreshing or boozy and spirit-forward.

Comfortable Seating: You’ll love their oversized round booths, located to the right as you enter. For the best experience, especially for parties of one or two who are serious about their cocktails, sitting at the bar is recommended, though remember the bar is reserved too.

Membership Requirements: It costs $10 per year for membership and you’re allowed to bring three guests each visit. You can purchase limited memberships at the door, but for the best possible experience, joining online prior to visiting is recommended.
Strict Dress Code: They have a strict dress code and visitors have been turned away for wearing khaki shorts, breaking the no shorts rule. Their house rules state: “When in doubt, wear something that you wouldn’t mind wearing on a first date… c’mon… again this is a private cocktail bar for adults.”
