Originally, Britt’s was located on the opposite side of the boardwalk near the arcade. In 1969, Mr. Britt moved the shop to its present location.

Though there is much lore and legend about the boardwalk, its heart is undoubtedly an unpretentious little donut shop. Inside, you’ll find H.L. Britt’s original photo hanging on the wall, a testament to the shop’s rich history.
Community Gathering Place: The whole town seems to gather here. A crowd of island kids skateboard up to the boardwalk for a Britt’s donut. Teenagers on dates sit at the counter. Charter boat crews line up, as well as middle-schoolers fresh from baseball games. Many families have made it a tradition to visit Britt’s generation after generation.
The Famous Lines: Don’t be surprised by the queue – it’s all part of the experience. Lines snake down the boardwalk annually on opening day and throughout the season. Even when there’s a line, “Service was quick despite the line” and the atmosphere remains friendly and welcoming.

Best Times to Visit: Arriving early is recommended – customers who “got here at 8:10am and were about 20 people back” found themselves well-positioned when the shop opened at 8:30. By opening time, there were “at least 100 more people queued behind” the early arrivals.
