The A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum at Michigan Technological University showcases over 36,000 specimens from around the globe, making it the official Mineral Museum of Michigan and a Heritage Site of the Keweenaw National Historical Park.
What sets this museum apart isn’t just its massive collection – it’s home to the Guinness World Record-holding largest piece of native copper ever recovered from any body of water.
This jaw-dropping 19-ton copper mass was discovered by divers in 1991 lying on the bottom of Lake Superior and now commands its own pavilion just steps from the main museum building.
