Back in 2005, when a 10-pound alligator appeared mysteriously at the doorstep of Animal Kingdom veterinary clinic, exotic animal veterinarian Dr. Vicki Marsh and her husband Steve had no idea they were about to create one of Michigan’s most unique wildlife experiences.

That abandoned alligator, now known as “Al,” became the first resident of what would grow into The Creature Conservancy – a remarkable sanctuary that’s home to over 300 rescued animals representing 70 different species.

What started as a compassionate response to one displaced reptile has blossomed into Ann Arbor’s best-kept secret for animal lovers.
