Every evening just before sunset, something magical happens at a legendary spot on Florida Bay where families gather on a sandy beach, live bands fill the air with music, and kids sit mesmerized in the front row watching a real America’s Got Talent magician perform tricks. This is Lorelei Restaurant & Cabana Bar, rightfully nicknamed “The Pulse of Islamorada,” where visitors have been creating unforgettable Keys memories since 1952.
What started as a humble bait store has evolved into one of the most beloved waterfront destinations in the Florida Keys. You’ll spot the giant mermaid sign from the Overseas Highway, beckoning you to turn into what feels like a secret paradise tucked against the water on the west side of Islamorada – perfectly positioned for those world-famous sunset views that keep people coming back year after year.
Nightly Sunset Celebrations & Entertainment
Live Magic Shows: Three nights a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays), visitors are treated to Rock-N-Roll Magic Shows featuring Michael Trixx, the Keys magician who appeared on America’s Got Talent.
His high-energy performances include live birds appearing and vanishing from thin air, levitations, and confetti blizzards set to classic rock music, delighting both kids and adults.
Live Music: Music fills the air seven nights a week, with bands performing from a little tiki stage between the beach and main bar area. Many bands start as early as noon, creating a lively atmosphere throughout the day.

Open-Air Beach Bar Atmosphere
Totally Open-Air Design: Lorelei has no permanent walls – it’s an almost completely open-air establishment that embodies the laid-back Keys lifestyle. This design choice was partly influenced by their rebuild after Hurricane Wilma destroyed most of the buildings in 2005, creating easier airflow and a more authentic beach bar feel.
Sandy Beach Seating: You can literally put your toes in the sand while enjoying dinner and drinks. Tables and chairs are set up directly on a small white sand beach, providing front-row seats to the sunset experience.
