Dreams have a funny way of morphing into something even more extraordinary than originally imagined.
What started as owner Rosana Bentos’s thwarted childhood aspiration to become a flight attendant has transformed into Florida’s first airplane-themed coffee shop, and arguably Miami’s most Instagrammable caffeine destination.
Located in Miami’s vibrant Brickell neighborhood, Sky Coffee Buenos Aires isn’t just housed in any ordinary building – you’ll actually be ordering your morning brew from inside the front half of a genuine retired Delta Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-88 that soared through the skies from 1990 to 2019.
This ambitious coffee venture officially took off in November 2023, and aviation enthusiasts, coffee lovers, and social media mavens have been flocking here ever since.
Coffee & Menu Highlights
Tierra del Fuego Golden Coffee: The crown jewel of the menu at $19.50, this luxurious cappuccino comes dusted with actual edible 24K gold and paired with a gold-wrapped chocolate truffle.

Buenos Aires Classics: You’ll discover authentic Argentine-inspired beverages like the cortadito that transport your taste buds straight to South America. The dulce de leche latte has become a customer favorite, offering that sweet, creamy richness that perfectly complements the aviation ambiance.
Breakfast & Food Selection: The menu features over 28 bakery options including Ecuadorian chocolate cake and pistachio cream-filled croissants.
You can also choose from 11 different sandwiches, empanadas that pay homage to the Argentine roots, and hearty breakfast options that’ll fuel your day whether you’re catching an actual flight or just pretending.
Coffee Quality: The beans come courtesy of Italy’s prestigious illy Coffee roasters, ensuring your cup meets international standards. Regular espresso starts at a reasonable $3.50, and most standard coffee drinks hover around the $5 range – quite fair considering the unique setting.

Atmosphere & Experience
Authentic Aircraft Interior: You’ll walk through an actual TSA-style metal detector before boarding the aircraft via airplane stairs.
The interior maintains the original first-class seating configuration with four authentic Delta seats on the left side, complete with the original layout except for updated black carpeting and custom Sky Coffee headrest embroidery.
Cockpit Access: The real highlight for many visitors is peering into the fully intact cockpit, where a festive dummy pilot often sits ready for photos. If you’re particularly charming, you might even get permission to sit in the pilot’s seat for that ultimate aviation selfie.
Outdoor Dining Atmosphere: While you order inside the aircraft, all dining happens on the outdoor patio with views of both the sleek black fuselage and Miami’s stunning skyline as your backdrop. The setting feels like an upscale airport lounge that decided to embrace the outdoor Miami lifestyle.

Other Considerations
Pricing Perspective: Standard coffee drinks are reasonably priced for Miami at around $5, though the specialty Instagram-worthy beverages can reach $20. The food quality matches what you’d expect from a themed cafe – good, but you’re primarily paying for the unique experience rather than culinary excellence.
Crowd & Wait Times: Expect significant crowds, especially on weekends. The popularity has led to lines of 200+ people during peak hours, and the small space inside means most of your visit will be spent outside. Early morning or late afternoon visits tend to be less chaotic.
Parking Situation: You’ll find easy parking in the food truck area where Sky Coffee is located, which removes one major Miami headache from your aviation coffee adventure.
Social Media Factor: This spot is designed for Instagram success. You’ll get a complimentary blue-and-gold “passport” that gets stamped with each coffee purchase – collect six stamps for a free beverage. The entire experience from metal detector to cockpit photos is crafted for maximum social media impact.

Discover MoreFamily Friendly: Kids absolutely love the airplane concept, making this an excellent family destination. The outdoor seating provides plenty of space for families to spread out while children marvel at being inside a real aircraft.
Weather Considerations: Since dining is entirely outdoors, Miami’s unpredictable weather can impact your experience. The patio lacks adequate fans for hot days, so timing your visit during cooler parts of the day is wise.
