Adventure meets education in North Tampa where boundaries between learning and playing completely disappear. MOSI transforms scientific concepts into over 150 hands-on activities that challenge visitors to think, explore, and discover across more than 150,000 square feet of interactive space. This isn’t just any science museum—it’s been recognized with the National Medal for Museums, the highest national award given to museums.
Located across from the University of South Florida and just two blocks north of Busch Gardens, MOSI creates an engaging environment where kids and adults can lie on a bed of nails, pilot drones, and explore a NASA-funded lunar colony. You’ll find yourself losing track of time as curiosity takes over and scientific mysteries unfold around every corner.
Space Adventures & High-Tech Thrills
Mission: Moonbase: Step into a simulated permanent lunar base set in the year 2070, built near the south pole of the Moon where frozen water reservoirs make colonization possible. This NASA-funded exhibit puts you in the role of a space colonist, complete with farming facilities and mining operations. You’ll perform actual missions with interactive exhibits that make lunar colonization feel surprisingly real and achievable.
Flight Club Drone Zone: Test your pilot skills in this safe, indoor space where you can guide drones through obstacle courses and challenges. Multiple visitors praise the excellent overview and training for the drone experience. You’ll discover flying isn’t as intimidating as it seems when professional guidance and controlled environments remove the fear of crashing expensive equipment.
CONNECTUS Exhibit: This area showcases the technology behind modern devices you use every day, breaking down complex engineering into understandable, interactive demonstrations. You’ll gain appreciation for the innovation hiding inside your smartphone, computer, and smart home devices through hands-on exploration.
